Pros
Initially, this company tried hard to be different, not the usual daily gind type of production. They had a reasonable plan for their growth (so many petfood start-ups are not prepared for rapid growth and really flounder because they can not maintain standards). They valued experience in the field. They are very generous with local encouragments (meals, parties) a well as bonuses. They are starting to realize their shortcomings in areas of thei production.
Cons
Nature's Variety is quickly becoming like it's mainstream competitors. People are just things that can be switch hitted to whatever position and shift is most needed. as seems common with other companies, middle managers and supervisors get the brunt of the workload, putting in 10-12 h days, at a minimum and often working 6 days a week without additional overtime. The company seems to scramble at times to determine what it should be focusing on in its process, which contributes to the chaotic feeling.
