Pros
A fast paced learning environment. Good starting point to gain experience and exposure to the F&B service industry. No minimum commitment as a part-timer.
Cons
Long working hours; expect shifts to range from 5 hours to 11 hours. Full timers are expected to work 11 hours, 6 days a week with one off day. As a part-timer, I also do not feel appreciated for my efforts as the company's welfare is lacking. Shifts can end as late as 11.30pm, meals and transportation are not provided or covered for. The base pay rate for part-timers is also rather low as compared to most other similar businesses. For some gazetted public holidays, there is no extra pay. The only public holidays which part-timers are entitled to extra pay are New Years Day, first and second day of Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Puasa and Christmas Day.
