Pros

Decent pay for the amount of skill required to perform the job. SOME of the team is very skilled and knowledgeable.

Cons

Ilmor is a hobby shop for the owners. There was no real goal to grow the company while i was there, just maintain what was had. Management at the time seemed to not want to push boundaries in new areas. Workers who were more skilled and more reliable to push out more product instead of trying to bring up or replace the unskilled and unreliable ones. Once Management catches on who performs well, they load them up with excessive work and expect faster deadlines while telling everyone quality first but actions showed speed first. Ilmor is not a place to come work and learn new skills. You WILL NOT have the opportunity to learn here no matter how many times management tells you. That is why there is a massive gap in skill. Its either highly skilled or no skill. Most the turn over is due to management lying to employees giving endless promises that never come. Claim to pay based on performance while not actually doing so. Because of the massive managment issues there is a ton of potential for ilmor to get better. Try to push corporate vibes in an industry where that doesn't work.

Pros

The work itself is genuinely enjoyable and technically challenging, with involvement in high-level motorsports projects. The facilities are clean, well-organized, and brightly lit. Compensation is competitive within the motorsports industry, and the benefits package is strong for the sector.

Cons

Management practices have created a challenging work environment for the team. There is a noticeable pattern of micromanagement, including close monitoring of team interactions and discouraging casual conversation among colleagues. This has contributed to a culture of distrust and excessive reporting. Over the past several years, this environment has led to significant turnover, with several high-performing team members leaving the company or transferring to other departments. Although these concerns have been raised to upper management and HR multiple times, the issues have not been adequately addressed. The majority of the team consists of hardworking, dedicated professionals who take pride in their work. Senior leadership and most other managers in the organization are generally well-regarded and effective. However, the specific management approach in this program area continues to hinder team morale and retention.
