Job is very secure, extremely hard to get fired, virtually no chance of a layoff. Decent benefits.
Cons
You, as the employee, are the last person this university will care about. Complaints will be ignored, you will not get raises, but your directors and management will. There is no chance of internal growth, every position must be posted publicly and repeatedly I have seen directors give their friends positions, instead of people more qualified. If you do not have a management position of any kind, you will be treated like dirt. Little to no respect for communication, they will not discuss departmental changes with the staff, and will implement them with no warning or prep time.
