Pros
There are a lot of really wonderful people at ICON. That is truly what made me stay for as long as I did. Lifelong friendships are made and that is very valuable. Compensation for higher titles is on par with the industry. There is flexibility to dream big and bring ideas to the table from a strategic perspective. There are fun company events that they put a lot of effort into. At first when joining, the company seems really wonderful. Then it changes.
Cons
There are a lot of Cons to ICON that should not be ignored. The environment is point blank toxic. There is a lot of anxiety and tension around almost everything. Everyone has multiple bosses and there is next to no communication surrounding growth, bonuses, raises etc. A lot is insanely secretive and that is obviously not appreciated by employees. There is absolutely a whisper culture. Unfortunately, the bulk of the work is left to the select few who actually get it and the rest just are along for the ride. It had been staggering to work at a media company alongside so many people with literally next to no media knowledge. Training is done but it's useless PowerPoint decks with no real world application. People are cross-trained instead of appropriate staffing which takes a toll on almost everyone involved. Every issue someone has around burn out or client issues is essentially seen as a personal problem. If this was a real collaborative 'best place to work', this would be seen as a team approach to fixing issues and it is not at all. Roles and titles do not accurately reflect the work being done by individuals and there is tension within teams that is unacceptable when it comes to possible growth and concerns surrounding structure.
