Pros

the product is good for higher ed

Cons

steer clear of this "mission-driven" org. They will do you wrong in a hot minute. The philosophy of the org and the reality do not synch up. There's a level of sexism at the top, they hire contractors from the Philippines (this constitutes their diversity, I guess) while paying them the "going rate" of $5/hr, and the CEO has disorganized thinking. You'll work your butt off and not be thanked for it as you should be.

Pros

Our company is growing rapidly, and the work you do has a direct and immediate impact. The team is close-knit and highly supportive, always aligned with each other's goals. With a fully remote setup, I enjoy the flexible work environment that fosters both collaboration and autonomy. The leadership is supportive of new ideas and encourages innovation, providing the resources and guidance needed to help you succeed.

Cons

In the remove environment, you need to be a self-starter. Also, since we're a startup you sometimes need to wear many hats.

Pros

At Hypothesis, you really feel like you are working on something meaningful and good. Every day we can see how people are using social annotation to teach and learn, to advance knowledge, and to have meaningful conversations on the web. The people at Hypothesis are awesome: Really supportive and collaborative and interesting...the fully remote team includes people with so many different backgrounds.

Cons

With a fully remote team (especially during the pandemic), coworkers don't get much of a chance to spend quality FTF time together, so we maybe don't know each other as well as we might if we spent more time together in the same place. What's happening with Hypothesis is really exciting and can sometimes seem overwhelming, but the team does recognize the value of work/life balance and expectations aren't overblown.
