Pros

Freedom to explore new ideas and new technologies Everyone has a voice, all ideas are welcomed Cutting-edge technologies and development practices Nobody is afraid to re-evaluate and re-design components if new functionality warrants it.

Cons

It's a start-up - a single customer can easily swing a sprint mid-cycle Customer deadlines can be very short, and product/sales agree to them without proper planning resulting in late days - this is actively being worked on and improving, though.

Pros

Great benefits, snacks, Friday lunches.

Cons

Everything else: Rampant, overt racism. Threat culture. Unreasonable expectations (70-80 hour weeks, no overtime) Utter chaos; no structure, no process, no guidance. No planning, no design, no vision. Outdated technologies. Any suggestions of how to improve will be met with 'shut up, get to work, and stop complaining'. Any contributions are likely to be overlooked, dismissed, or miscredited. Without a doubt the most toxic, miserable environment I have ever worked in. The staggering amount of employee turnover will attest to that, and is directly attributable to the disaster of a CTO. The only reason this company still exists is because the niche they have been trying to fill for 3 years has not yet been filled - something a well managed company could do in less than one.

HyAlto Response

AirVM is a small and very diverse team with a fast-paced collaborative environment, and therefore, unfortunately, not everyone is a perfect fit. We’re disappointed to discover such a visceral response from someone who applied for a promotion just last week.

Pros

- Opportunity to work with new technologies and build new infrastructures - Open communication and laid back environment - Strong team with diverse skills - Open learning environment - Ability to contribute and help impact the company in a positive and rewarding manner - Tight knit, friendly group

Cons

Not necessarily cons, but more as an insight into the startup world: - Quick shifts and adjustments made in requirements and sprint planning can sometimes be overwhelming. - Long hours sometimes necessary for delivery
