Pros

If you establish that you're capable, store management will allow some degree of independence. Camaraderie between employees with the same level of responsibility is typically strong (common in the grocery business).

Cons

Advancement opportunities are generally only offered to those "in the club." Hy-Vee's much-touted employee ownership is disappearing. Assistant manager titles are handed out as token gestures, so they mean little.

Pros

Hy-Vee is a great company that truly cares about the communities we serve. Our 14 fundamentals drive both the customer and employee experience, guiding how we treat and serve our customers and each other. Leadership actively seeks employee feedback and uses it to drive meaningful change across all locations. There is a wide variety of jobs and career opportunities in many different areas of the company from retail to supply chain, IT, marketing, and so many more. obust employee benefits include tuition assistance for degrees, certifications, and foundational learning at little to no cost to employees, and the company focuses on promoting from within for most leadership roles.

Cons

As a 24/7 retail business, scheduling can be demanding in some roles — though the variety of positions means there's flexibility to find the right fit. With a large, decentralized workforce spread across hundreds of locations, consistent employee communication is an ongoing area of focus and improvement.
