Pros

+Discount on in store "hot food" (not groceries) +Flexible hours +Learn customer service +Co-workers were awesome (sometimes) +Easy to transfer to another store +Paychecks could go direct deposit +Cashier training +Learn to bag groceries +Varied work (I have done courtesy, cashier, frozen clerk, GM, delivered groceries to elders)

Cons

-Wage increases were avoided unless directly asked for (company policy said an employee will get a raise and board of review every six months, I had zero reviews and only 1 pay raise despite 2 years at the company with little issues) -Managers do not take our suggestions to better the store because "our opinion doesn't matter" -Getting carts in the rain and snow -Cleaning bathrooms (sometimes I had to go out of my way to find a pair of clean gloves because the box in the cleaning room was rarely full). -Gossip among teenage workers was bad at times (caused people to quit/complain)

Pros

Hy-Vee is a great company that truly cares about the communities we serve. Our 14 fundamentals drive both the customer and employee experience, guiding how we treat and serve our customers and each other. Leadership actively seeks employee feedback and uses it to drive meaningful change across all locations. There is a wide variety of jobs and career opportunities in many different areas of the company from retail to supply chain, IT, marketing, and so many more. obust employee benefits include tuition assistance for degrees, certifications, and foundational learning at little to no cost to employees, and the company focuses on promoting from within for most leadership roles.

Cons

As a 24/7 retail business, scheduling can be demanding in some roles — though the variety of positions means there's flexibility to find the right fit. With a large, decentralized workforce spread across hundreds of locations, consistent employee communication is an ongoing area of focus and improvement.
