Pros
Easy gateway to Japan If you have absolutely no skills in software, this is your golden opportunity
Cons
Too many lowly skilled "engineers" who can barely hold basic conversation in Japanese AND English. Well, if they can't speak, surely their skills must be top notch? Dead wrong. These are some of the weakest engineers I have ever seen in my life. Picture a so called "C" expert not knowing what a pointer is (not even laughable) So what happens when you get hired? Simple, you spend a months to a year in a cramped office that makes you feel claustrophobic, surrounding yourselves with "engineers" with 0 motivation in improving their skills (be it language or technical), since all they want to do is listen to music at office. Warning: Be prepared to get your japanese pronounciation defiled by your colleagues as the pronounciations you hear are some of the worst you will ever hear in your life, sometimes you wonder if you are speaking to aliens Management: As opposed to what many people said, not too bad really. Obviously you are going to be scolded if you break the rules, ie: listening to music at work, sleeping, etc. What do you expect? Being praised when you break rules? But it is partially true that you have no "voice". I was told prior to being hired, that I will work in areas that I am interested in. After being hired, I was offered a ridiculous job (maintenance) to which i declined, stating what I was promised a job I am interested in. As expected, I was scolded and lectured for an hour and told not to be a kid. To which I again replied stating what I was promised. (which only added 30 minutes to the lecture about the business model, etc)
