Good on resume - Server Houston's Restaurant Employee Review

Pros

Decent money and looks good on resume. Learn a lot about the industry and how to work in a fast paced environment

Cons

Treated like you are disposable, could get a review about forgetting a martini exchange and get fired easily. Definitely some mean girl vibes with the servers that have been there a long time. Flow really depends on what managers are on shift. Some will be in the hall taking a personal call or scrolling on IG during peak rush when you are in desperate need of a manager.

Pros

High earning opportunity, fast paced, structure for staff expectations was the best of any place I have worked when I first started.

Cons

With the pros it took severe cons for me to want to leave this establishment. The treatment by management is by far the worst I have ever encountered. They demand high work load with no work/life balance and offer "support" by degrading you in front of other staff and call it motivational. I appreciated their desire to adapt and change but they constantly made small insignificant changes to standards (protocol, service, attire, specs, plating hardware) only to change again within a few weeks. If you forget any new changes you will be berated, most likely publicly. It really can take a toll on one's mental health. Left at my lowest after 5 years with the company feeling undervalued and unappreciated. Do yourself a favor and give 40hours of yourself each week to a place that treats you as human. Very high staff turnover rate because of this treatment which led to constant training environment. Hard to have a team that trusted each other and worked well together if people are constantly coming and going.
