Pros
The work-life balance was one of the company’s strongest attributes. Within my department, there was a high degree of flexibility with both PTO and day-to-day scheduling, which made it easier to maintain a healthy balance between work and personal responsibilities. Management was approachable and personable, and I always felt comfortable communicating with leaders at all levels of the organization. They fostered an environment where employees felt heard and supported.
Cons
I found it difficult to advance within the company despite consistently exceeding expectations, demonstrating initiative, expressing interest in growth opportunities, and regularly going above and beyond in my role. I remained in the same position for several years and ultimately had to advocate extensively just to receive a raise, which became discouraging over time.
Additionally, I was unexpectedly laid off without any prior indication that my position was at risk. When I joined the meeting, I initially believed I was finally being promoted, and even had excitement about it. I had received no behavioral or performance-related write-ups, no communicated concerns about my work, and no warning leading up to the decision. I was informed of the layoff and locked out of my systems within the same hour, making the experience both abrupt and shocking.
