Pros

Growing and learning in a very large global organization. From junior levels to mid management levels, opportunities are significant. Learning and using Six Sigma process and continuous improvement management tools are excellent. Also, learning and understanding global markets and views really enhances your career.

Cons

At the higher levels, the political gaming is significant. To be successful (or survive) you must know how to play the game. And if you are a minority (of African origin or Female) the challenge becomes much more significant because you are not privy to the rules of the game and at times not even knowing the game is being played. Very few minorities have been retained once they reach the Sr. Director and Vice President levels. The playing field is definitely not a level one. To survive, one must (at times) sacrifice their value system and operate in a manager counter to their core beliefs. Once you learn the game and understand how it must be played, you may get frustrated and leave on your own or you react too late and are asked to leave.

Pros

The team is great and people are excited to have you there. You are given value-added work and projects week 1. There are a lot of other interns at both the graduate and undergraduate level so there is a strong sense of intern community and support. If you have to relocate for the internship, complete housing is provided (they find you an apartment and pay for everything - results on the apartment itself may vary but are generally close to the office).

Cons

Varying start dates led to varying first day experience. The onboarding day for those who had it day 1 was great, but some interns got it after their first week and had little direction day 1.
