Pros
Vacation policy is ok - you can turn overtime into PtO
Cons
- Terrible Pay: You shouldn’t hustle through engineering school to only earn $60k
- Management: Many old narcissistic managers that are not open or receptive to new ways of doing things. I never met a single manager in their 20s.
- Company Culture: years working for the company takes presidency over actual engineering ability. You can be the next Steve Jobs or just do the bare minimum - regardless, no one is going to promote you faster for your engineering ability.
- Japanese Terminology: used for EVERYTHING AND ITS ANNOYING. Get used to acronyms, schedules, design reviews - basically everything having a Japanese word you will have to memorize.
- Paper Pushing: so much unnecessary paperwork meant to keep you busy. This becomes very frustrating because it’s hard to change the company from within when you constantly have paperwork to do.
- Location: in the middle of nowhere. Forget about biking to work or doing something fun on your lunch. Also if you want to live in Columbus be prepared for a 45min to 1 hour commute. That’s 1.5-2 hours commuting a day 😬
If you’re ok getting paid Pennies to out your with all the above then take the job. Most people say Sayonara after 3 years when they realize other companies will pay 2x for the same job
