Working with plants
Company car
Collaborative Co-workers
Cons
Senior managers lack leadership and people management
They know plants but don't stretch themselves to keep pace with the growing movements for more sustainable practices
Non-transparent top-down approaches to management leave staff confused. Unequal treatment toward staff plus no safe lines of communication for reporting.
You get to learn a lot, there is a full and robust training program, if you like growing vegetables and flowers this is a great first job.
Cons
It’s hard to make money in the farming industry in general so it’s difficult to earn a livable income for the region you’re working in. Fairfield county is one of the most expensive regions in the country so working in an area that you can’t afford to live in is challenging. Also there is a lot of driving- like a LOT of driving. It can be hard on the back for doing so much manual labor.
