It's bittersweet that HCHB is where it is today. There was actually a time when I referred friends to join me here. However, there's been a dramatic shift over the past couple of years. What was once was collaborative, team focused, with transparent relationships with leadership has since become rigid, stifling, passive-aggressive with unrealistic expectations.
What leadership champions are the anti-patterns for a software company in 2021, undermining productivity and crushing innovative spirit that their teams once held. There is an utter lack of trust in executive leadership, and despite a large drop in Best Places to Work survey scores, employee grievances remain unaddressed. The coordinated skits performed by leadership as part of quarterly "all hands" calls distract from any valuable information being shared. Moreover, they ignore the real challenges we are experiencing as an organization that need to be talked about. Many of our most valuable team members have made the choice that they ultimately felt they had to--leaving, in hopes that it might finally influence some change. That change has yet to be seen, but the exodus continues.
