Pros

Good benefits package, health insurance paid for by company. Coworkers are all great. The job is fairly flexible on hours.

Cons

It starts out well but most employees consistently hate working here after 1 year. There are 3 managers - one in each office - that are manipulative, pathological liars and get away with a lot that the CEO does not see. One of them is a little racist but you might not know anymore because the few BIPOC hired have left the company. The company will tell you that they care about your mental health one day and then you’ll hear about your manager gossiping with your coworker about your mental health struggles the next. You can tell your manager you’re working way more hours than is healthy and have a breakdown in the office, and they tell you that YOU need to work on your work-life balance but offer no solutions as to how to get the workload done. We were told to hang in there or suck it up after telling them how badly we needed to hire multiple people or outsource more technical work that we aren’t capable of doing. Multiple people have been fired this year for personal reasons or issues with management and been told it was their performance. Management openly discussed this with other team members after these people were fired.

Thank you for this feedback. I’m sorry you didn’t have a great experience during your time at Hightower. We continuously look for ways to improve our team members' satisfaction but with that comes recognizing that we have room to grow. We have opened new positions to help manage the workload for team members, we are investing in our internal tools & technology and bringing in consultants to help move projects along faster. The conscious leadership training we introduced in 2020 and our recent DEI initiatives will continue as we work hard to make Hightower the best possible work environment for our teams. Thank you again for the feedback and we wish you the best in your career.

Pros

Benefits and relaxed work environment

Cons

Company is top heavy with unnecessary made up job titles during a time when business is slow. Upper management ignores issues until it affects them or makes them look bad, even after they have been told about it. They tolerate people taking advantage of the “laid back” work environment. They do not realize how many employees will be talking on their phones all day, and will get up and hide in the racks behind large crates and be on the phone for an hour or more at a time. And when it’s time for layoffs, they act like they were not aware of those employees taking advantage of the company. They need to pay attention, because the company seems to be getting it all wrong. Some upper management likes to talk crap to employees about other employees there. Also you are required to do your own performance review and it hardly ever amounts to any in compensation. Even with manager feedback that is all great on the review.
