Pros
The people they hire grow into the position they were hired for. They usually promote from within. It is not a toxic workplace.
Cons
They do not assist in helping the employee grow. They will not assist in a career path. You were hired to be a wrench and you will be a wrench until they no longer need a wrench. If you find yourself a niche and excel at it you will be welded into that position and be expected to bare the weight of everything remotely attached. Your sector runs because you are there so you cannot NOT be there because there is no backup. Then when you burnout and leave all your information goes with you and the company scrambles to grow a new plant in that spot from scratch.
