Pros

Did not have to drive personal vehicle to/from work, and gas was free.

Cons

Being a location manager with Hertz, at least in my very short lived experience, means that you will work approximately 55 hours per week without overtime. If you have a family, especially small children, and being a parent to them or a spouse to your husband/wife is important to you, do not accept this job. However, my main reason for leaving so abruptly was because I was absolutely appalled at the complete lack of any sort of a training or even on-boarding program. How can someone be expected to perform a job/navigate computer systems that they are completely unfamiliar with if they are never afforded an opportunity to learn them. In my brief 4 weeks employed here, I could not get a straight forward answer on training, expectations, or even an overview of my core roles. You know, it's disappointing really....and perhaps I'm being naive, but I truly expected a company that operates internationally and has been around as long as Hertz has to be a little more structured, a little more organized, and to have a higher amount of self-respect than to treat tenured, and new employees the way that it does. I was really disappointed that I couldn't offer more help to my location, but in the end, the apathy of my area manager and other location managers led me to make the decision to walk off the job mid-shift, which I have never done at any job I've ever held. Even after contacting Human Resources multiple times regarding these concerns, little was done to resolve the matter.

Pros

Great place to work in tandem with other professionals in your trade, always had a feeling of "family" working alongside my peers. We come together when times are tough, this is very rewarding,

Cons

The current economic and geopolitical spectrum have been proving a challenge to this industry as a whole, thankfully we are a resilient outfit with the best people at the helm.

Pros

It is possible to make a difference if you are determined enough. Many engineers work hard and most try.

Cons

The company has a ton of tech debt that it recognized, but is not being addressed. Management controls the time, scope and so quality is falling. The people they have hired lack fundamentals understanding of software development practices. The company often will make decisions to save small amounts of money with their facilities and tools they give to employees without understanding the opportunity cost that was lost. Overtime is required. You can't work here if you want to have a family or keep your family from hating you. Title inflation is real. Many people are actually performing one level down from their stated title and those that are not are only not failing due to putting in crazy hours. Middle management wont stickup for their people to ensure they are not burning out. They see it happening multiple times in front of them and they do nothing.
