Pros
The company has several great benefits that include cars, free gas, discounts, great health care and some interesting new businesses.
Cons
Management at the director level is largely stocked with 'yes' men (with some notable exceptions on the fleet side). There is a pervasive attitude that information is not to be shared. Worst is compensation, quite often monies are never awarded or the 'rules' are changed mid-month or quarter, for sales people this is devastating. Turn over is high and a lot of great talent is let go for avoidable reasons. The amount of support given is very inconsistent, certain regions are better than others and training is not offered to correct the problem. Goal setting is an 'on the fly' task that creates confusion on the part of sales people and anger with management. Because of Hertz being a public company, there is a great deal of pressure to put up great numbers, as there should be, however medium and long term goals are consistently abandoned and customers are lost because of short sighted reactions to meet the quarter's prescribed numbers.
