I joined Henkell Freixenet through an EOR in Bangkok after leaving a secure role, trusting the commitments made during the hiring process. I even started traveling for work before my contract was finalized, showing full flexibility from day one. However, over time, several of those expectations did not materialize. Key elements discussed—such as health insurance despite frequent travel—were ultimately not provided. There were also moments where changing client commitments created difficult situations on the ground. After eight months, my role was ended in a very brief call, without clear explanation. The process felt abrupt and lacked the level of communication I would have expected. Because my employment was tied to my visa, this has immediate personal consequences on my ability to remain in Thailand. I raised concerns along the way and proposed alternatives, but these were not pursued. I also found that the structure made long-term growth unclear, particularly from an international employee perspective. Takeaway: if you’re entering a cross-border role, make sure every key commitment is clearly written and aligned from the start. Sharing this in the spirit of transparency—these setups can work, but clarity and accountability are essential.
