Pros
-It is a self-fulfilling job. The Heguru teaching method was adapted from Japan and kids do show great improvement in their ability to think in a short period of time. -I thoroughly enjoy the term breaks. On average, you get a week off after working for about 7 weeks straight. -While you have to handle a small number of unreasonable parents, there are many really nice parents who are super understanding and encouraging.
Cons
- It is a company that focuses excessively on having a good image and reputation and will implement things that go against certain core values. Since the bosses focused so much on having a good image, you will start to notice the unnecessary things that some teachers start to do just to protect their own reputation as well. -As teachers, I believe that it is important to have a strong sense of integrity . We must show respect and be responsible towards students as well as our very own colleagues. These are the values that we often teach to children in class. However, I noticed that the some of the senior teachers/management here would go to the extent to hurt teachers/ admin stuffs just to cover their minor mistakes. Sometimes, crude words are even made during training. While teachers in local schools are most afraid of handling the parents, teachers in these Heguru Method centers are most afraid of being verbally attacked by their very own trainer. -Even though this is the more popular franchise among parents, other Heguru Centres are offering better pay schemes across teachers. There is a large discrepancy of pay schemes among the teachers of this company. Unfortunately, a higher pay is not awarded to the teachers with higher student retention rate. -Management claimed to focus a lot on results. They claimed that if a teacher has higher retention rates, this teacher would have received better rewards. However, because the bosses only come in once a week, they would tend to trust the words coming from the manager or senior teacher more. Therefore, instead of looking at the physical evidence of a teacher's retention rate, they are more convinced by the words coming from the senior teacher/ manager. This means that a teacher who is closer to the senior teacher/ manager would have better "treatment". -Bosses focused a lot on speaking properly. However, I noticed that some teachers do not have a decent command of language and unclear instructions are often given to these children.
