Pros
I'll start out by saying I truly believe in what we do - as does the majority of those that work at HealthSparq. I also believe in the product we are continuously working to improve and perfect for clients so that, at the end of the day, regular people have the tools they need to make smarter health care choices.
Overall, the team works incredibly hard for a product and cause they are passionate about. Its hard work, but very rewarding and the nature of teamwork across the organization is one of the best I have ever experienced. The work-life balance and benefits are also pretty amazing.
When I started, there was no real on-boarding process for new staff and as such its taken a long time for me to get a feel for the entire company. The company is young and its still finding its way to employee engagement, but is working really hard and making strong progress towards better on-boarding of new employees and long-term relationships with current staff. Rewarding work well done and creating fun and interesting team events is becoming a strong part of the organization and really making cross-functional relationships happen.
Cons
It's a start-up, and with that comes some things that can be tough to get used to. The tried-and-true nature of a start-up working to find its way and refine its work is hard at times. It creates additional challenges and frustration for some teams more than others, which can be really difficult for the people on those teams (and hard to understand/watch from the outside).
