Pros

- The leadership is very transparent , and the CEO, Dan is someone a great human being that I personally look up to. I've had leaders/managers that actually cared about me and my career growth. The managers I had during my internship were awesome! They are the kinds of people that I want to work for. - I like how the organization encourages submit reviews and feedback regularly. - Onborading experience was awesome and HR folks here at HC are amazing. - Benefits are great, including health insurance, home office and training fees reimbursement. I can see HC wants to invest in its employees.

Cons

- The compensations was not bad, but not very good. I'm about 4 months in after I started working in a permanent position (analytics engineer at ASO), but I just got an offer from another company with about 40% increase in base salary... (no counter offer) I suspect it's that I was converted to a full-time employee from an intern so the level I started with is very low at HC. I wish there were the metrics and performance standards that I could easily find and look at so as to understand why my compensation is where it's at. Maybe I could've fought for a better salary? - I can see there are many analytics engineers whose skills are not fully leveraged, which I felt multiple times in my role. This, I think is one of the reasons why my compensation was not the best here, but valued A LOT more elsewhere. I can see other AEs are feeling the same way. - Along with that, BI tools used here like Tableau and Power BI are great, but I feel like there should be more tools for AEs to leverage for their career progression like cloud technologies, dbt, etc. Good thing that HC is moving towards snowflake, but I feel like career growth opportunities are very limited here in terms of tools and data modeling methodology used here. No version control in SAMD is almost a shame in my opinion. - And there is almost zero opportunities to utilize ML or predictive analytics (data science type stuff) as AEs. I don't hear many roles open for data science team either. So those who really want to skill up in that realm should be better off working elsewhere. - Although, the leadership at HC is great, I saw some skill gaps in managers. I've had both types of managers; the one who seemed to know what it takes to be a good manager and actually cares about my career progression and work life. But this other type of manager seemed to be more technical than a manager. I didn't really enjoy the conversation with this manager because simply I didn't find it meaningful or pleasant... It almost seemed like the manager lacked the people skill that managers should possess.

Thank you for this review and feedback. And thank you for your kind words, we're grateful to hear of the positives you've experienced. I also appreciate the constructive feedback you've shared, and would encourage you to always feel like you can reach out to Linda Llewelyn, our Chief People Officer, or other People Operations individuals, for a confidential discussion. This can be about your salary as you consider competitive opportunities, and we would very much like the opportunity to have those discussions, and acknowledge that despite our best efforts, we are imperfect and don't always get the scoping of positions exactly right. LIkewise, we want to understand if there are some training needs with any of our servant-leaders, so please reach out to people operations if you don't feel comfortable visiting directly with your manager. I would also be happy to visit with you 1:1 if you feel that would be helpful. Thank you also for your specific suggestions about how to make the AE and AD positions as positive as possible--great ideas! Best, Dan

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
