Pros

When I came over to Health Catalyst it was culture shock in the best possible way. From the very top to bottom most everyone at the company lives by the Health Catalyst values. In my experience, this company truly values it's team members and the leadership does their very best to culturally be female forward and progressive in recognizing and addressing the workplace and outside challenges minority groups are facing in today's world. Our CEO does not shy away from taking a clear stance on what he feels is the right and that's much appreciated. Health Catalyst promotes a culture of kindness, transparency, remaining humble, and assuming positive intent. And I've personally witnessed the leadership team doing everything they can to keep promises and stand by their word while maintaining the company's mission. There's never been more of a need for the work Health Catalyst does and I believe it truly makes a difference in our healthcare system. I consider myself fortunate to be a part of it.

Cons

The company is growing at an inorganic rate and while that's not a bad thing, it can certainly present challenges and growing pains. Achieving the mission can sometimes come with shared sacrifice.

Thank you for your review and feedback, and for choosing to be a servant-leader at Health Catalyst. I appreciate all that you shared that has been positive about your experience, and recognize there is a great deal to live up to, and that there are no shortcuts here. I also appreciate your perspective of the importance of sharing and receiving constructive feedback so that we can work to continously improve. We're working to build this capability into the fabric of the company, including through annual performance review processes for servant-leaders and for every team member. But we also feel it is important to maintain a healthy ratio of positive to constructive feedback -- what we share in our leadership training is a goal of a 7 to 1 ratio of positive to constructive feedback, which is data-informed. Some of the data that informs this perspective comes from the Gallup organization -- that accentuating and enabling team members to utilize their strengths is far more effective than having them focus inordinantly on fixing areas where they might be weak. There is a balance in all things, and self-awareness is critical, but I did want to share that there is a rationale and a great deal of data and thought that informs our bias towards positivity and a focus on reinforcing strengths. Thank you for all your work at Health Catalyst as a servant-leader. Best, Dan

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
