Pros

It is wonderful to work for a company where you are appreciated and valued as an employee. The Benefits are superb (and the amazing People Operations Team are always looking for ways to improve them). They have been innovators on the following (before it was common): -$1,000 to setup a personal office: We started receiving this benefit 3 years ago -Inclusion programs: Several affinity groups with meetings, panels, activities, etc. -Really generous maternity/paternity leave time. -Unlimited PTO. -Option to work remotely. -Great offices with always-upgrading work stations; Gym with equipment, classes, etc; kitchens full or drinks and a generous assortment of snacks; Shuttle service from the Frontrunner/Trax/Bus Murray station. -Excellent Health Insurance. -Really generous Education Program. So many more benefits to list here. Related to work environment: You are surrounded by smart, humble, hard working people that are ready to help all the time. Using our Internal chat service you can find an answer to a question or an offer to help in 5 minutes or less, it is great to be part of such a cooperative group. You are given opportunities (and are encouraged!) to have a path for your career, to keep learning, and to move forward. Our clients are amazing, and it's really satisfying to help them improve their processes and save lives. Our CEO is truly sincere in their appreciation and concern for all team members, he knows us by name, and he knows details about our jobs, families, etc. It is an honor to belong to an organization guided by such a person.

Cons

The only con I can mention is the suspension of the 401k matching (which was really generous), but this has been because of the Pandemic. And this decision was taken so Health Catalyst didn't need to let any of the employees go. So even in a hard situation, Leadership took the best decision taking in consideration all the team members. So it's not really a Con to know they have your back and your interests in mind.

Thank you for your feedback, for your kind and generous words, and for your direct contributions to our company's mission and success for the past nearly four years! Thank you also for occupying such a foundationally important role -- that of an analytics engineer, working directly on the front lines with our clients to help them measurably improve. It is an honor to support you and your important work. Thank you also for the feedback regarding the 401(k) benefit, and please know that we are working to reinstate that benefit as soon as we can -- we'll discuss some more in today's all-team-member meeting. Thank you again for your contributions to our company's mission and success -- I'm grateful to be your teammate and colleague! Best, Dan

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
