Pros
Head Start cares about their employees and the families they serve. The requirements for the "extra" paperwork are not coming from the leadership team or HR but rather the government. The leaders do the best they can to equip the site supervisors, teachers and teacher assistants with the resources and time to get their jobs done. Believe me, they empathize with what you are going through but have to work with the resources they are given and share accurate data to the government on the work that is occurring at each of their sites. Head Start has teachers spread throughout the entire county, they try to hire the best talent to fit those sites. They encourage growth from within and hope that each site can work together to bring out the best in each other to make the experience a more rewarding one for the families and for the children. They work 9 hours M-TH and 4 hours on Friday during the school year. I'd like to think I would still work here if I did not move out of state.
Cons
Federally funded = less competitive pay. They have to work with what budget the government gives them and have to ask people to do some tasks that may seem mundane because they are required to report it to the state in order to get funding.
