Here's my experience at the fire division. * There is enormous pressure to collect money from clients. Even though the designation is engineer, the role heavily involves man management. * Frequent layoffs. * Incompetent management with less experience and knowledge, and significant ego issues. * The division is maintained only to provide total solutions to customers. The fire department is operating at a significant loss, so don't expect any increments. The company is in debt to vendors and subcontractors, which can delay materials for your projects. * Internal politics.
