Pros

- Pay Structure is set up well for Young People or people who want to make money without having large Financial Responsibilities. - Most Locations Close at 7PM. - Good Training, although they now only pay trainees low hourly wage for 3-5 weeks until you are selling. - Most People working for the company are great people, I worked in a team that I wouldn’t give up for the world. - Good PTO Pay once there for a year, although you only get roughly 10-14 days off a year. - Good Chance for Advancement, I was promoted within a year there.

Cons

- Pay Structure gives you the chance to make money, but can be VERY unreliable in slower months considering you spend 160-170+ hours there regardless. If you do not meet the Min. Commission point, they will pay you no bonuses and at low hourly wage, which is very hard to do when you are Management. - Some of the Management at Havertys is great, while some can be very pushy and very inconsiderate of their employees. As a former Sales Manager for 2-3 years, we gained a new Branch Manager and I was extremely pressured to improve one metric of my performance or I would be in danger of losing my job, which was very jarring for a very good employee. - You are mandatory to work on Weekends, although some of the better management will have creative schedules to serve their team and keep them happy. - Very much a Sales and “go-getter” environment from Higher Ups at Havertys. You will be blamed if you are not performing well. - You are paid on Delivered Furniture, which makes it very difficult when the Delivery team can make mistakes. If you have a 15K delivery go wrong on the last day of the month, it will rock your financial world if you are not selling tons. - Havertys is very willing to use their “Fire-At-Will” right here in VA. After 3-4 years of loyal Management Service, earning my degree, and staying with the company through this, I was let go same day for an anonymously reported Social Media Post. I was let go same-day after being told I would be okay if I delete my post. Not just my own example, but I have seen numerous employees fired very quickly for performance or other reasons. So this was a little shocking to see from a company that expects huge loyalty from its Employees.

Pros

Pay is somewhat decent, which helps offset some of the challenges, but it doesn’t fully make up for the growing strain on work–life balance.

Cons

Leadership tends to be distant, with limited transparency around decisions. Managers often micromanage day‑to‑day tasks, leaving little room for autonomy or creativity. Priorities shift without warning, and feedback isn’t always welcomed, which makes it hard to feel heard. The environment can feel disorganized, and long‑term planning is inconsistent at best. Work‑life balance opportunities has decreased over time, and policies that once supported a healthier balance are being scaled back or eliminated.
