Pros
Great work life balance, fair pay though not stellar, the job is not difficult and colleagues are very friendly and helpful. Management is understanding and willing to listen to your needs outside of work. Very diverse environment. Stable and secure.
Cons
Benefits not so competitive apart from civil service pension and union. As a gov job, under-resourced and overworked departments, lack of innovation, lack of investment in technology (IT service can be shocking at times). Worst of all, some colleagues in other departments not willing to work together and kicking a fuss when work is passed on or reviewed. Some won't allow for feedback to be considered.
