Pros
It gave me an opportunity to work with a variety of people who suffer from mental health issues and addictions. It's taught me what I would never want in a job again. It has taught me all the negative poor,management skills that I will never use and will do opposite of if I am ever in a leadership position. It has strengthened my assertiveness skills to stand up for what I believe in.
Cons
Underpaid, undervalued, unsupported, and micromanaged. Working at a satellite office, we get forgotten about and do not get the wellness benefits that the main office gets. We are told we need to take lunch breaks but are not given enough paperwork time to have them (or to have quality ones). We are pushed to get people through the door and back to back and still expect us to get our paperwork done, reassessments, Treatment plan reviews, coordination of care phone calls, etc. It is a toxic environment that I have to step out of...sadly not because I'm burnt out in my job with my clientele, but because I am tired about being underappreciated. I am a quality professional who has had multiple job offers already and raving reviews from clients. I am no longer willing to work for money as little as my clients make at a hardware store and work 2-4 hours over my salaried time. End of rant.
