Pros
Good holiday policy provided, reasonable beer
Cons
I was informed in a meeting I would no longer be with the company with no written warnings or notice period. The only reason communicated to me by the CEO was that I had not excelled in the position. According to my understanding of my contract, one month’s notice would normally be provided after six months of employment. I had not received prior written guidance on areas for improvement, and up to that point I had received positive feedback from my direct manager. This left me with no time to prepare for the change, which was a highly stressful and difficult experience for me. After this meeting I reached out to clarify whether this was a redundancy situation. A week later, it was confirmed as redundancy, and I received compensation. Because this clarification came later, I did not initially have access to the usual support provided immediately to those made redundant, which reduced the time I could benefit from these resources and also had a negative impact on my mental health, which would not have been as bad if I was aware of this at the time I was made redundant initially.
