Pros
Salary here is decent but still slightly below national average. The bar is set low here so you can perform at your lowest and it will actually be good enough for them. Great for lazy people!
Cons
This company is run by an 83 year old man and it shows - everything here is archaic. It's an old boys club - everyone has been here 20 plus years and insist on running things the way they did 20 years ago. Unfortunately they are not very open to change. If you are well liked by the folks at the top, then you get to join the club - but that's only if those at the top know you exist. Senior managers and directors do not want their team to have any visibility to those at the top. Ever. Yet your raises and promotions are decided by the very people who don't know your name. Everything is poorly organized and there is no effort by anyone to improve things. I'm very surprised by the lack of communication, experience and professionalism around here. There is no town hall to communicate to staff what is going on as an organization. There aren't any objectives that people work towards. People just show up to work doing what they've been doing for the last 20 years and that is more than good enough. Decisions are made behind closed doors and there is no rhyme or reason for why they do what they do. It seems that decisions are made more on feelings rather than numbers. For example the president wants to keep producing x product because he likes it. It doesn't matter if the product is being produced at a loss to the company or if it's something that is not positively impacting the bottom line. You cannot expect to grow and develop professionally when you are working under people who don't know what they are doing. If you are ok with a non challenging environment where people do things on the fly without any proper rationale, then this is the place for you. If you want to learn and grow, this place isn't it.
