Pros
Carefully managed. Fairly relaxed atmosphere, absence of backbiting and gamesmanship. Some very knowledgeable, experienced people. Turnover seems quite low; employees tend to stay with the firm. The ESOP has produced excellent returns for employees investors, but that era may be coming to an end as acquisitions slow and the firm enters a consolidation mode.
Cons
Low emphasis on career development. Low turnover also means lack of opportunity for advancement. There has been a growth of bureaucracy.
