Pros
My experience at H-E-B was mostly good. I was accepted into SORL and the experience was really great at first. Good people, good mentor, and good pay. I really valued community events and volunteer events that H-E-B sponsored for its surrounding communities. H-E-B gives back a lot and I can tell leadership and customers really love H-E-B.
Cons
I don't think H-E-B cares enough for its hourly partners like they do for management and customers. When I was promoted to be in SORL, I began to see just how little H-E-B pays and offers for its hourly partners. I had many friends who worked in other stores as hourly partners and they did not have great experiences. It's hard to get fired from H-E-B and when there's a bad manager, everyone suffers from it. I have witnessed bad managers go months or even years without proper discipline from leaders. There are many managers who also have favorites and they are more likely to promote or transfer partners they favorite over those that are more deserving. My last con is about my SORL training. I felt that training was extremely unorganized and I was often forgotten about. I am supposed to learn from others (on the job training) but it seems no one has time for me or that the store is so understaffed that I have to fill in for some other role rather than focus on the training I am suppose to receive.
