Pros
GovCIO is great at getting the best people for the job, and maintaining a relatively low stress environment that helps retain workers better than the competition. While regular raises are abysmal, upward movement is encourage and supported, and pays pretty decent for the time that you are hired. The company gave out a single polo or a water bottle as a Welcome Aboard item, but that one time event was it. There are corporate get togethers outside of work hours about once, maybe twice a year.
Cons
Pay raises are very rare within a position, and when they do come, they're almost insultingly low. A yearly pay raise within your position won't even cover half of the increase in cost of living, and that was before the recent inflation spike. This has gotten so bad that I'm now getting offers from other companies willing to pay $40-65k more than GovCIO because they won't keep up with regular raises much less give them out based on merit.
