Pros

Option to buy shares in the company Money is really good Good opportunity to move up in the company Lots of different work types and groups to work with Food is paid for when you are out in the field You can see some really amazing places.

Cons

Lots of time away from home I was based out of the Edmonton office and often worked in the oil camps, at Peace River and Ft. Macmurry. Difficult to plan anything as you never know when you will be home. Work shifts can range from 5 days in a row to 20 days in a row. Projects run long, work can unexpectedly pick up and a project that was planned to only go a few days can have you in the field for almost a month. Once I was two weeks late on rent because I had way to get my cheque to the landlord. The braking point for me was while I was in the field my place was broken into and my stuff was stolen (as no one was at my place for a month.). I informed my employer of this and the only measures they took was to leave a help number on my desk. Better employee services are needed for things like this.

Pros

Most of the employees and management were very friendly

Cons

The company was disorganized at times and the training was barely existent when I started. No opportunities for career growth. There was a disconnect from office to office at times.
