Pros
Exceptional vets and nurses Good clients Working with animals
Cons
The communication from management is either non existent (despite however many attempts to get in contact) or it's unprofessional (have actually seen name-calling and inappropriate language being used). The attitude from the top is very much 'be grateful for what you have' and despite very clear contradictions, and attempts to create compromises, this does not change. Staff are told the pay is 'competitive' which since finding new employment it is very apparent the salary is at the lowest end of the scale. The worst part is that these are the reasons that so many great staff members have left and yet nothing has or will change. Vets, nurses and support staff are also expected to go above and beyond e.g. be told to work and extra 5 hours on the spot, and get to the hospital from branch with no consideration for prior plans or safety when leaving the hospital in the dark to get home. Also; poor holiday allowance made worse but the difficulty in having holiday approved - regardless of how much notice you try and provide.
