Pros

They hire good people. My colleagues were always willing to go above and beyond to help whenever I asked. The autonomy each sales rep is afforded can be a breath of fresh air, for the right individual. Brilliant recruiting team that makes each sales rep look good. Commission structure is fair, but it's not a differentiator among other IT staffing firms. Work life balance is OK, but it's worth noting 90% of the sales reps and recruiters leave the building at exactly 5pm Monday through Thursday, and typically earlier on Fridays (too many reps and recruiters along for the ride, not wanting to be a part of building something great).

Cons

Talk about a flat organization! If you want to work within a transactional B2B environment, then GlobalSource is the company for you. If you're more inclined to join a sales organization focused on value and relationship-building, look elsewhere. Lack of leadership, mentorship and professional development in both Recruiting and Sales management. Sales and recruitment training programs simply do not exist here. Sink or Swim - or become a brown noser to one of the half dozen VP's because they will always have your back regardless of your results. You will never receive warm leads, nor will you receive a solid book of business to build your foundation on. As a new Sales Rep you will likely be handed an ice cold book of business that has been cherry picked by management or senior reps prior to your first day. GlobalSource does not have a sales pipeline nor do they have an appropriate way to forecast sales projections. Management is money hungry. They won't do the right thing if doing the wrong thing brings them new revenues. Working with the recruitment team can be ARDUOUS due to leadership on that side of the business. As a sales rep bringing his team new orders, the recruiting leadership gets in the way of what should be an exciting moment and will question everything you've presented to him on behalf of your clients.

This review is highly accurate in a lot of instances, yet woefully misrepresents the facts in others. With respect to the Pros: This review is spot on in the respect that our organization is filled with extraordinarily talented individuals, both personally and professionally. Many of us have been around for 5, 10, even 15 years. A level of organizational tenure that is absolutely unheard of in our industry. It's not by chance. Earning potential is uncapped, our reputation in the eco-system is solid, and our client list deep and impressive. All very solid traits in a privately held organization, it's no wonder people join the team and stay here. With respect to the cons: We are a flat organization, and we make no apologies for it. Our hands-on action, hands-off management style affords high efficiency and maximum agility. Two traits critical to success in a fast moving market. Our culture allows for individuals to drive to their own success as they see fit. If an individual can't thrive in an autonomous and self-accountable environment, we're probably not the best fit. This is something we don't hide when speaking with prospect employees, and something that shouldn't be confused with a 'sink or swim' culture. Every one of us has all the resources we need to be successful. The statement that we don't grow leaders is simply conjecture. Every single one of our managers and core senior leadership has been home grown, without exception. Every single one has began in a sales or recruiting desk. We pride ourselves on providing maximum opportunity, and when we seek to launch a new initiative, it's always on the efforts of someone we promote into it. We've witnessed countless individuals, grow, stretch, and realize professional and financial success beyond what they thought possible. It's incredible to see it unfold day after day. Bottom line, we have a 20 year history of building the single largest niche staffing conglomerate in the region. We have a tenured staff unmatched in our space. Neither of which is by accident.
