Pros

Learning how to build a fiscally healthy organization with a clear 3/5 year plan

Cons

Working in the DC office proved to be difficult, there wasn't adequate support from London for the DC staff nor a clear understanding about what it takes to have successful hill efforts, communications and development. The leadership also made it very clear that they were not equipped to deal with diversity and inclusion issues and made the junior staff feel unsafe and unheard. The CEO was especially hard to work with, making the work environment for those who worked with her regularly uncomfortable and stressful. If you are in a leadership role in the US office (i.e. head of communications or development) be prepared to be under staffed and resourced as well as unappreciated or supported by the leadership in London.

Pros

- amazing, smart, and passionate coworkers - great benefits and lots of PTO - non-stressful and pressure free work evironment - great work/life balance

Cons

The organization was going through major changes throughout the time I worked there. There was very little transparency and everyone outside the leadership team was separated from any decision-making on the change processes. Even my supervisor was one of the the last to know important updates about our team. Plus, throughout my time there, numerous people abruptly quit (there wasn't a month that went by without 2 people exiting) and towards the end 20+ people were made redundant suddenly. Lastly, while the organization claimed to be committed to DEI and climate justice, there was a staunch lack of diversity.
