Good people and interesting work, but trust in leadership is eroding fast - Senior SDET Global Relay Employee Review

Pros

Smart engineers. Good people. Most teams have talented colleagues who genuinely care about doing quality work. Pay is competitive, and the office environment is good. Social events, Thursday pizza, and beer help morale more than management probably realises. The technical challenges can be interesting, and teams usually have decent freedom in how they approach engineering problems.

Cons

Communication is heavily top-down. Feedback is collected, then disappears into a void. Decisions feel predetermined long before employees are asked for input. There is very little flexibility around office attendance, even for occasional remote work or personal circumstances. What could easily be handled with trust and common sense often turns into rigid policy enforcement. Bonus structures feel detached from reality. Targets are often unrealistic and disconnected from what most employees can actually influence. A culture of caution is starting to replace open discussion. People are becoming less comfortable challenging decisions or raising concerns honestly.

Pros

Free lunch and great location near Bryant Park

Cons

You can’t make a deal with a bad person, the CEO is not a decent person. Very poor leadership and unhappy clients under house arrest b/c of the data. It’s tough to leave GR. Oh, forgot, zero equity.
