Pros

Everyone at GLN is a pleasure to work with, from the bottom-up. The staff is comprised of interns volunteering 20 hours per week, fellows volunteering 30 hours per week, and typically 2 full-time paid staff who receive small salaries and are clearly doing the job because they truly care about the mission. The best pros include: working in a very diverse environment where everyone respects each other and learns from each other; an environment where ideas are valued more than titles and rank, and creativity is encouraged on a regular basis. Everyone is enthusiastic and passionate and there is just a general good vibe and positive attitude in the workplace. Since it's a small non-profit you get to work on a wide range of things. The org goes out of its way to make sure each intern, fellow, staff, and volunteer works on projects and areas that they are most passionate about. There is a lot of opportunities for professional and personal growth and the people who succeed the most are open-minded, driven people looking to learn new skills and be part of something truly unique.

Cons

It's a small non-profit with limited resources so sometimes it can't do everything that big companies can do. Due to the limited resources, salaries are relatively low and most people are volunteers; it's not the best fit if you are only in it for the money. A small core team manages a huge operation, so there are a lot of challenges that come up; but if you're the creative type you will really love being able to tackle challenges in new ways and finding unique solutions.

Pros

I really enjoyed being part of the Global Language Network. I believe in what they’re doing and think the mission is something special. You can tell the organization is genuinely here to do good, and they create a welcoming space for people to connect, learn, and grow. I’m glad I got to be involved.

Cons

I can't really think of any cons—I sincerely enjoyed my time here.
