Pros
# Incredibly "human"
People care for each other to an extent I've never seen before. Example from last week: I was feeling stressed, two teammates not just noticed but proposed to go on a walk, got me ice cream, and jumped in to help me finish my project.
Also, managers take 1on1 very very seriously to make sure everyone is growing. For example, I told my manager I was considering getting a therapist for a while, he directly offered to put it on the company and helped me understand what kind of therapy would help me most.
# In short:
- leaders and team members are super helpful and supportive
- people are super smart
- great remote culture - you really work whenever you want and get the chance to both travel around the world and work
- no BS, zero office politics
- high transparency: everyone has access to all the key company numbers
- It's not just about work work work work work :notes:! We also travel together, go on hikes, party, etc
Cons
- It's "high investment high return", so GitStart definitely won't be a good fit for people who are looking for something chill
- Unclear career path in ops. We just hired a Head of People so I hope that will change soon :)
- too many high-fives, my hand hurt.
