Pros
Very rewarding, both intellectually and financially. Something different every day. Very broad exposure to every industry in PA-WV-OH-KY-MI-FL. You'll learn the technical side, but also the sales side, as well as the customer support side after the sale. If you go into outside sales you'll make more than most rep owners. And hands down, Gilson has the best 401(k) program out there.
Cons
It's a small business and you'll be forced to look at things from multiple perspectives, so if you're looking for a singular job function (ie, just engineering with no concern for sales issues) it's probably not for you. Also, there's no ladder to climb. You can increase your earnings but you won't have a fancy title. You also will need to be able to accept coaching and criticism - management does a pretty good job of keeping it constructive, though. You also need to be comfortable with the fact that you will never stop learning because the field changes so quickly. If you don't like change, this job isn't for you.
