Pros
Some of the best immigration law work available in the UK. The quality of the work produced and the professionals with whom you get to work is fantastic if dealing with complex litigation. The knowledge and skills acquired are invaluable. Staff members excluding senior management are lovely and there is a strong sense of community and support among peers.
Cons
The quality of the work comes at the cost of employees' long-term health and productivity. The long hours, stressful deadlines and high expectations of senior management are tolerable because of the experience and work, however, it is the culture within the firm that is difficult to withstand for a long period of time. There is definitely a 'last to leave' policy, where you are scrutinised for leaving at a reasonable hour regardless of the reason, unmanageable workloads are expected so not addressed unless something goes wrong, expect to be routinely shouted at, HR does not offer any support to employees or provide a fair platform on which to resolve employment-related grievances, significant inefficiencies in the handling of most files. I would recommend this workplace to immigration lawyers in the industry, but only with the information above.
