Pros

Good pay and benefits. Most people are helpful and nice. CEO seems to have a good head in his shoulders, besides a particular hiring position... HR is ultra competent.

Cons

When I came on board at Getac, I was told that the department would be grown out. The manager assured me that he would listen and that we, as a department, would build something great together. It was all downhill from here and it quickly turned into a nightmare. This manager had no unifying vision, or if he did, he didn't share it with us. Projects were started, stopped, paused and sometimes partially finished with little to no coordination. And when that led to projects in poor condition, the rank and file received all the blame, not the manager. This manager was very two-faced, telling us that if something went wrong, it would be OK because we would work on it together and learn from the experience. In reality, it turned into a blame game that would last for days, used as a cudgel whenever something else went wrong. Which was often, since the department had little structure, aim, or general direction. Processes would start to be built then abandoned... For reasons. He would ask for our feedback and if we presented it, even in a respectful way, he lashed out at us, telling us that we were the problem. It turned into a situation where I would wake up each morning with my heart racing, wondering what this tyrant would email me next. I lost my appetite as well. It didn't help that at one point, this manager started crawling through my social media for unknown reasons. After I respectfully turned in my notice, he became increasingly unprofessional in ways I won't go into here, but in my 15+ years of employment, I have never faced such disrespect and tyrannical behavior. By the end, even just seeing him on camera made my skin crawl. Kind of unrelated, Getac is a bit of a man's club. A few seemed to like the sound of their own voice a little too much, too.
