General Dynamics AIS Review - Senior Lead Engineer; IT Service Management General Dynamics Mission Systems Employee Review

Pros

This is a great place for the individual that understands the fundamentals of IP communications, applications, and databases and be willing to 'go the extra mile" to accomplish a task or goal. This can translate into an "Recognition Award" of up to $5000.00 but don't expect these to be an annual event.

Cons

Process is, now, the company's mantra. For someone like me that has spent his life "outside the box" creating unique solutions to company and customer problems, this is a challenge. If you are only willing to give a "yeoman effort" in your job, I don't know if this is the place for you. My father insisted that the only way to success was to be an "übermensch".

Pros

GD-MS seems to win *ALOT* of proposals and contracts. There is always the next big thing at GD-MS.

Cons

Contractors 411: Typically, contracts terminated with no notice. Today will be your last day. Please wrap up your work. It was a very low-rate contract too. Made alot of sacrifices to be on this program. Culture resembled a human wood-chipper ala FARGO. Many senior engineers leaving en-mass. I was asked to take over the role of the engineer who left just prior to my arrival. I called it: I will be next. Good experience once in your life to go thru the human wood-chipper. Toughens you up. However, GD-MS is a great example of how it is that legacy aerospace companies are dying rapidly and startups will be the future in aerospace.
