Pros
Genedata is a nice blend of academic, start up and an established business environment. There is thus space to think through ideas in a team environment and then applies those efforts in real world scientific IT environments. Because Genedata has been in business for so long, the company and the employees are able to take the long view on business, to fully pursue ideas with long-term potential. On a personal basis, the teams are interactive and supportive, while management is supportive of a reasonable work-life balance. A nice place outside of the frequent reorgs that occur the biotech/pharma space as a whole.
Cons
Genedata has a relatively flat organizational structure. While I see this as a plus, it is likely not the place for those seeking a stair step structure of new titles every 2 years or so. There is room to move, but not in a classic, big company way.
