Pros

There are no pros about this. Value your time and keep applying just time wasted here.

Cons

Lack of communication with management and clients Instructors teaches through youtube videos you can google yourself Bad environment you can tell everyone doesn’t want to be there Sets up wrong interviews for example say you were a .NET developer imagine having to interview as a Java developer or vice versa just expect to get interviews for the wrong roles constantly. People being let go during interviews with client and then asked to be rehired a couple days later. Having to relocate anywhere on a whim and doesn’t pay back relocation for months and rarely covers half of the relocation costs. Imagine getting terminated after relocating for the job in a totally new state. Underpaid if you happen to land a client usually you would make $40 hr+ but they only pay you for $20 hr. Wants to keep your salary under wraps told to not discuss salary. TLDR: “Trained” through YouTube videos. Paid half of what you usually would make. Can be terminated randomly worse case after you relocate in totally new state. Relocation doesn’t even cover half the costs of moving. Extremely poor communication between management and employees.

Hi, sorry to hear about your experience! Let me try and address some of your concerns here: -Re: being trained through YouTube videos, we do have training videos that our instructors have made; hundreds of them, actually! But what brings real value about our program are the real-time instructional sessions with our instructors, whom you can reach out to anytime during the day. They'll jump on a session with you to answer questions you have or to help you with areas you are stuck on. Since so much of comp programming involves searching for solutions and being resourceful to find answers, we feel like this is a good way for our students to 1) practice finding innovative solutions to the problems in our curriculum while 2) having an instructor right there to answer your questions so you don't get TOO stuck 😊 -Re: relocation, it's true that we do make sure potential candidates know upfront (before starting the program) that they should be open to relocation. We pay a portion of your relocation cost because we know it can be a financial burden (exact amount your recruiter will discuss with you). -Re: the pay, when you are hired by a company, the pay obviously varies by the company or type of work you have, but we do ensure that it is within the standards of the industry! This also coincides with your commitment to work with GenSpark for at least 12-18 months (length varies by company you're placed with), after which you are free from your commitment! We see it as an investment you're making in yourself, so that your future can include higher pay and the kind of job you want. Hope that helps 👍 -Re: the issues of your interview getting mixed up, and poor communication, we will bring that up! Thank you. We are always trying to improve so that candidates can have the best experience. If you'd like, we'd be happy to discuss the particular concerns you had! Pros

Flexible program, easy to navigate, employees are friendly.

Cons

Prepare with bare minimum. If placed, and the placement doesn't continue contract, their follow through is not the best. They let you go as well. Minimal outreach to help you secure another placement for consulting. A lot of their programs are not coming through, or their marketing is not doing so well. I reached out numerous times over several years. I feel it is more market than them. Relocation was good experience; however, relocating with no guarantee of placement is not great. If I has signed a lease when relocated I would have been stuck with no way back home. Employees are very understanding; however, programs were getting cut a lot, and if you already did a program, the lack of help to place again is huge.
