Pros

It does not take long to make an impact here. I've been with Gapingvoid a few years, and am amazed at how much Jason, Erica, and Laura have upleveled and grown the company in that time. I have grown as a creative. Gapingvoid is an environment that challenges you to experiment, continuously improve, and where someone with anxiety like me can flourish. It is rewarding to work at a different kind of consulting company, one that listens to and amplifies the voices of the people working at the ground level of organizations, and gives them a role in building their culture. The consultants at Gapingvoid truly care, and their work running facilitations and gathering people's stories shapes all of the creative work. Consultants do an incredible job of taking people who may be jaded and cynical from experiences with previous consultants, and through a process that is unique to each client, to people who are excited about building their culture. Laura and Phoebe have built a small yet mighty creative team who truly care, and I am grateful to work with every day. I feel valued and like my voice matters. Everyone is always willing to help and share knowledge. Being a remote team, has allowed Gapingvoid to find amazing people from all over the country (and avoid dealing with Miami traffic every day). While we are remote, we are given a lot of trust and autonomy. Our internal meetings are a chance to learn from each other and explore our curiosities.

Cons

Client work always comes first, which can mean less time for internal projects Sometimes things can get stressful, but Laura and Phoebe work hard to manage the creative team's workload so that it doesn't happen often.

Pros

I’ve been working at Gapingvoid for just over two years, and it has truly become my home. I joined the team as a junior designer, knowing I had a lot of growing to do. One of the first things that pleasantly surprised me during my interview process was learning that my resume, portfolio, and short video weren’t screened by AI — they were carefully reviewed by my manager, who later interviewed me. That human touch, something Gapingvoid preserves every step of the way, gave me a real chance among many candidates at a time when landing your first full-time job out of school is especially challenging. I knew there was a lot for me to learn, but I was never alone. A coworker — who now works alongside me to ensure smooth onboarding for new G-teamers, including within our team – was the one who walked me through everything he knew. I came in ready to work hard and prove myself, and that effort never went unnoticed. My initiatives and contributions were recognized openly across the company, my team, and rewarded with competitive and fair compensation that reflected the effort I put in. At Gapingvoid, I’ve never felt limited by my job title. I’ve had plenty of opportunities to explore new interests that contribute to the business in meaningful ways. Along the way, I’ve been exposed to fascinating topics and have had the chance to learn from incredible leaders (our clients) and my coworkers. Over the past two years, I’ve grown my design skills, built confidence, and found myself part of a team that always has my back. There’s no such thing as “not my client,” “not my role,” or “not my task” — when things get busy, everyone steps in, each bringing their own expertise – "in this together." Opportunities to travel for client events add another layer of excitement. They bring inspiration, remind me why we do what we do, and add variety and color to my work-from-home routine. One G-teamer once said, “It’s only work if you’d rather be doing something else,” and that idea has stuck with me. I often find myself wanting to return to a piece of research, continue exploring a creative task in the quiet of the evening, or rewatch a group call (we call them “cuddles”) to revisit insights and collect the additional gems I may have missed. Over time, I’ve grown not just as a designer, but as a person — surrounded by the semiotics we create and the artifacts that constantly remind me of my goals and my “WHY.” There’s so much more this place has to offer, and I won't tire until I’ve explored every opportunity.

Cons

At times, we have to put in extra time to bring our work to the level of quality our clients deserve — we genuinely care about how we deliver. As a growing team, there’s always room to improve onboarding. It requires ongoing feedback and iteration, which we actively work on. That said, the buddy system ensures there’s always someone you can turn to for guidance or help finding answers. With multiple projects running simultaneously, the pace can be fast and occasionally feel overwhelming. Staying on top of deadlines and having the right content ready can be challenging at times, requiring strong organization and communication across the team. Priorities can shift based on client needs, so flexibility is important and plans may change.

Pros

The work of Culture Design® is meaningful and challenging. It requires intellectual curiosity, resilience, and a genuine interest in helping organizations improve how they lead and collaborate. Our firm attracts smart, thoughtful people who care deeply about the work and its impact on clients. Over the years, I’ve seen many people grow significantly here by taking ownership of their work and leaning into the challenge. For people who enjoy solving complex problems and working closely with clients, there are real opportunities to learn and grow professionally. The company is also generous with holiday time and offers significant flexibility in how we work, including the ability to work remotely. People who do well here tend to enjoy meaningful work and a fast-paced environment. It’s also simply a really cool place to work, and everyone is genuinely kind and supportive. I am grateful to be part of the journey.

Cons

The work we do is demanding, and the expectations are high. It requires adaptability, initiative, and comfort with ambiguity, which means it may not be the right fit for everyone. Because we work remotely, communication and relationship-building require intentional effort both internally and with clients. Not everyone enjoys or thrives in this kind of environment, and I acknowledge that it isn’t suited to everyone.
